Hi, my name is Mrs. Bone. I was born in Providence, RI and moved here when I was 17 years old. I've been teaching for 24 years. I started my teaching career in Fort Myers, Florida after receiving my B.A in Elementary Education from The University of South Florida. I obtained my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading focus in 2008. I am currently back in school pursuing a Masters in Educational Leadership. My goal is to become a principal.
My first teaching job was as a Pre-K teacher for the Headstart program. I taught Pre-K for 6 years before moving to Inverness in 2001. In 2001 I started teaching at Hernando Elementary School. My first position at Hernando was as a Special Education teacher. I kept this position for 6 years. My next adventure at Hernando was teaching 4th grade for 2 years. Next I moved to 5th grade and spent 1 year there. After 5th grade I spent 2 years teaching 3rd grade at Hernando, followed by 4 years teaching 2nd grade. Next, I moved back to 3rd grade. I'm very excited to be teaching 3rd grade again this year!
I've been married to my wonderful husband, Mr. Bone, for 21 years. We have 1 daughter named Maria who is 23 years old. Maria and her husband Thomas have a son named Elias who was born in May of 2014, so I am a grandma to an energetic 2 year old! Mr. Bone is continuing his teaching journey this year at Homosassa Elementary School as a 2nd grade teacher.
As you can see I love dogs! We have 3 dachshunds at home, Barney, Jake, and Bella. They are all long haired dachshunds. Barney will turn 7 on September 4th and Bella just turned 6 on May 17th. Jake will turn 5 on August 2nd. You will hear a lot about my pups throughout the year.
When I'm not working I enjoy photography. I love to take pictures of my pups, animals and plants in nature. I also enjoy walking and going to the beach. To relax at home I love to watch the birds and rabbits that visit my back yard. Daytona Beach and St. Augustine are my favorite places to be!
Now that you know a little about me, I am eager to find out all about you. Let's make this year the best year ever!
Love,
Mrs. Bone
